As a mother

Written on December 22, 2010

Mahala is 3 months old today, and she is the greatest joy of my life.
I’m very proud of myself for bringing such a beautiful, precious life into this world.
Life is definitely so much different now, but I wouldn’t change a minute.
I worried the whole time I was pregnant if I would be successful as mother,
I didn’t know what to expect being totally responsible for the life of a helpless newborn,
When I’m not even responsible enough to remember where I parked at wal-mart.
And someone said to me during my pregnancy without me even mentioning my fears,
“Don’t be scared, it kicks in I promise,
You will love her so much, it’ll all work out.”
And this put my mind at ease for awhile, but nothing was as easing
As holding my baby girl in my arms for the first time and feeling
The tears of joy roll down my face and feeling like the smile on my face
was never going to go away  ....
and It was the most genuine smile of my life!

            In the past few months:
I have changed a few hundred diapers or more.
            I have been peed on,
I have comforted her when she hasn’t felt while.
I have seen her first smile,
I have heard her first laugh.
And the list goes on and on.

I look forward to watching her grow and teaching her new things,
And I can not wait to see the young lady she grows up to be,
As she continues to make me the proudest mother I ever imagined I could possibly be,
And continues putting that amazing smile on my face everyday.

By the way,
Christmas has came and gone,
but here's some pictures...

HOPE EVERYONE HAD A VERY MERRY CHRISTMAS!

In the past couple of days, I've been delving deeper into all this blogging stuff,
and I'm definitely liking it!
My dear cousin at, Life's Good, Be Happy, has offered me some help,
and I look forward to taking her up on that offer as soon as we get the time.

Not too mention I can't wait to see her again,
we don't nearly get to spend enough time together these days.

I've been trying to find some more blogs that I really like,
and so far I've found:

                                         -Cassandra Cave
Cassandra writes about her blog:

I live in sunny California and work as a photographer,
while also embarking on the exciting journey of motherhood.
This blog is a place for me to share my bohemian dreams
and connect with other like-minded gypsies.

and I love it!  It really is an inspiration to my gypsy soul.
For some reason, with the coming of my baby girl,
I kind of lost touch with this side of me.
I'm searching to find the balance I'm looking for in life,
and I think this will be an amazing read.

Last but not least I have found,

which I definitely enjoyed.
The photographer, Christina, captures some amazing photographs.
I suggest everyone to check these three blogs out,
I really think you might like them. :)

"To the gypsy that remains faces freedom with a little fear..

...I have no fear,
I have only love"
-fleetwood Mac "Gypsy"

I'm a little bit of a blog addict today,
I'm just really trying to get better at this whole deal,
so if anyone is reading this- please bear with me.

I thought I would tell everyone a story,
so...
This is my story of a random trip I took with a couple friends
to Indianapolis, IN and Myrtle Beach, SC

It all started with this car
and Brian's idea to go visit his brother in SC,
and Kenny's idea to visit his brother in IN.,
and me and Puff were just along for the ride..

                 BRIAN                       ME                      PUFF                                   ANDDD            KENNY!

Now, more about this car- better known as becky
As you can tell, the passenger side window is "rolled down",
which is more like "not there at all"
the bumper to the car is tied on to a log which is in the trunk,
the drivers side door doesn't open.. at all,
the headlight is duct taped on,
and this a 60 something Olds belonging to Kenny's mom.

Well we started this trip with roughly 70 dollars,
I had seven dollars to my name,
and I forget who had the rest because we were all kinda in this together.

So, we hit 111-N wide open towards the Kentucky line,
with Indianapolis in our future, and Tennessee in the rearview,
with a few packs of smokes and a couple packs of buglars for backup.
It was the beginning of October, beautiful- beautiful.

But the farther north we got, the colder that open window became,
so we stopped off somewhere and bought some siren rap.
We got lost around Cave City Kentucky,
but we finally made it to Indianapolis around midnight.

This is what I saw in Indiana:
this is my hand fixin to godzilla that car-cigarette and all.

this is Mali, the talking bird
Well that was fun, now let's go to Myrtle Beach!
But on the way, we will:

*lose the bumper in Ohio,
so we will stop at walgreens and buy some more rope.
*Have to stop at Ingles and have Brian's brother Western Union
us some cash.
*Get pulled over in SC (40 minutes away from the beach)
and Kenny will go to jail for driving without a license,
where I will then be the one in charge of Becky..

But Brian, Puff, and I will make it to Ocean Blvd.
sad that we lost a troop.
That night on the beach, I will have dropped my phone in Brians cup of beer,
Leaving me with one picture of our time in Myrtle Beach

and a very worried family back at home in Tennessee.

So you may be wondering what happened to Kenny?
He was released on an O.R. bond and hitched a ride to the beach
with some other fleeing jail birds.
But.. me and brian were phoneless (without phone. lol)
so his efforts to contact us were unsuccessful..

until- brian got a call on his brothers phone from someone
that had tracked them down, from someone that kenny had tracked down-
blah, blah.. basically he found us!
so we began to walk.. and walk..
and we found Kenny!

We spent the rest of our stay relaxin on the beach,
making friends with a homeless man, wandering around the blvd.,
drinkin a few, laughing a lot, and living for the moment.

on the way home- I drove.

----------------------------------------------------------------

So basically, this was one of the best times of my life.
My parents were pretty worried about me being gone with
a couple dudes I had only known a couple of months,
but it all worked out.

We were free, we were weightless, we were infinite.

Cookies for Santa

Every year. my mom and I have rolled the dough and "painted" the cookies for the big guy in red,
You know who I'm talkin about..
Yeah, that guy. :)
Well, now that I have a daughter of my own, that tradition is not about to stop now..
So this year, I'm doing the cookies (with my mom's help, without a doubt)
We're gonna do the cookies here, at my house, and we've invited quite a few kids, mostly the family. :)
And I need to clean, clean, clean..

Because I can't believe Christmas in 4 days!
I hope everyone has I good one.
I'm Santa for the first time this year,
and I'm pretty excited about that.

It's crazy for me to think about last year,
and how dramatically my life has changed.
Last Christmas, I was eighteen and I had just gotten back from NY,
visiting my mom's family and my brother-
I came back, but my mom stayed for a couple more months,
so it was just me and my dad.
Basically, I was still a kid..
and it's amazing to me how much I have changed on so many different levels.
Of course, I am a mom now!
I kinda moved out. lol.
I have a terrific guy in my life,
I am now enrolled in college following my dream of becoming a teacher,
I'm trying to stay on the right path,
and I'm trying to keep my head above water.
That's life, I guess.

and I leave you with my thoughts on this quote:
"Even after all this time
The sun never says to the earth,
"You owe Me."
Look What happens With a Love like that,
It lights the whole sky.."

Actually, I kinda think this one speaks for itself,
We all want a love to light the sky. :)
peace be with you, my friends.

The beginning

I am emily.
I have a 2 (almost 3) month old daughter, Mahala
I have a boyfriend, Kenny

This is us:

I am 19 years young.
It becomes more and more obvious to me everyday,
that I have soo much to learn.

I have much family
I have a few friends
I am attending VolState Comm. College
I want to be a teacher, always have

I am starting this blog really to see what it's all about,
I don't really know what direction this blog is going to go in
but I enjoy writing, so I'll see how this goes,
let's get started, eh?

I wanna start with a quote from the buddha,

and it goes something like this:

"How easy it is to see your brother's faults,
How hard it is to face your own."
Buddha

Now, I do actually have a brother-
and I do believe he has quite a few faults.
And I do notice them,
and I'm pretty sure a few other people do, too.

and in my mind, his faults are greater than mine,
and this is where this quote finds all the truth it needs.

And while I struggle daily to realize that his faults
cannot be greater than mine,
because at the end of the day,
a fault is a fault
-and I am not the one to judge
whose is worse.
